The Challenge

Royal Mail's sustainability team had been tasked with achieving a carbon neutral status within four years. They had to do this without affecting the profitability or productivity of their day to day operations. Their waste stream was predominantly cardboard boxes used to unpack mail.

They contacted Reuseabox for advice on recycling alternatives.

Our Solution:

Choose to Reuse

When studying their waste stream we identified up to 50,000 boxes per month being generated in just three sizes. These were being triple handled at source, baled and then recycled for a low fluctuating rebate.

We trained their staff to palletise used boxes at the point of unpack. At the end of each shift pallets of used boxes were loaded into a stand trailer provided.

The Reuse Process

A simple three step process, we provide full training and specialist equipment.
  • Palletise:
    Operative flat packs boxes and stacks on pallets.
  • Collect :
    Full pallets are loaded onto a Reuseabox stand trailer. Once full we collect and distribute boxes for reuse.
  • Reward:​
    Reuseabox pay a rebate for every box reused.
